THE "TAX CAULDRON"--Why should we pay taxes?

Why should we pay tax? From high school to intermediate to graduate level studies we are force fed into the presumption that the "TAX" collected by the government in form of indirect and direct ; is spend on the welfare of the citizenry. To provide them with good roads, good schools, good transport facilities and secure administrative environment to move freely without fear.

         Our father of nation Mahatma Gandhi had said ," Government is custodian of wealth, not its owner". But sadly the present and past central and state dispensation think that they are the owner of public funds and can spend on whatever "THEY CHOOSE".

The very purpose of tax collection is being defeated in the current climate. The funds are neither spend purposefully on roads or education system or for that matter in securing peaceful climate. Funds are being spent on the whims and fancies of ruling dispensation on solely single purpose---" TO BUY VOTES AND PERPETUAL RETENTION OF POWER". Give the voter freebies like free ration, free single phase electricity, free diesel, free LPG gas cylinder. The sole defeatist argument in this case being ----"If 'THEY' i.e. voters remain poor,"WE" the rulers can remain in power." Now, currently there is a beginning of classification of freebies, for dirt cheap poor ration a day is enough, for middle class provide them with laptops and television and for other classes provide gold an silver also as poll freebies.
For the next five years grill the voter, squeeze the voter by taxes and high inflation as well as corruption and then provide a balm by freebies ---Utter Hypocritical Attitude!
Give them stupid rights and advertise from top of the voice across the world but force the populated masses to remain ignorant. Oh..Oh... don't give them the tools for enforcement of those Fundamental
Rights... Our Rulers....not our leaders think if the masses be given true exercises of their rights they would cause a catastrophe? These Feudal people would go berserk?
The nature of our civic education system was better even with lesser resources in past. Ask any of your parents..They got their education in public schools, got their medicine in same very public hospitals and as far as I know most of you must have been born in the very District Hospitals. but now, even our parents shun those public utility services, forget about us. Everybody says we are a cribbing generation. But the deterioration in the access of public services can be felt by those who themselves are the products of public services. We boast of Right To Education, Look at the status of of schools be it primary, secondary or our high education. Only single word comes out of our mouth--" PATHETIC". We have begun to fend for ourselves in every sphere of our life. The responsibility of governance has been mortgaged. The state of public administration enforcement is worse, crime rates are soaring irrespective of place.
The taxes deposited by us are not being spend for the welfare of the "MASSES" ,forget about the "CLASSES ". Even being an entrepreneur one cannot grow without giving bribes and greasing the machinery.
Time has come to think for ourselves that those government advertisements which make us remind for our responsibilities , should be directed at our "Rulers" not our "leaders" which are creeping like reptiles in the sycophantic scum of their parties. Time is not far away when this could lead to drastic situation where truthful people which are motivated by national pride stop paying taxes and then I wonder how this so called  "Imposed Democracy " would work.
